Ben Seigler Marriage & Family Therapist, Yuba City Marysville Area Helping Children and Parents

Thank you for visiting my website and taking the time to research this important decision. My name is Ben Seigler and I have lived in the Yuba/Sutter area for more than 27 years. I have been working with children and families for more than 21 years and I have a passion for working with people and helping seemingly helpless situations turn into incredible life-changing experiences. I also enjoy helping strong willed children to guide that strong will in a direction to help them succeed. I consider myself a life-long learner and am constantly attending training and seminars in order to stay on the cutting edge of the field of therapy so that I can bring the best, most advanced and research based proven techniques into my therapy sessions. Providing treatment is more than a job or career for me, it’s a calling. I consider it a tremendous honor to sit with people and hear their stories, never judging and always hoping to be part of the solution.

Besides just providing therapy treatment to families or people like yourself, I also enjoy teaching others how to do quality therapy as well. I am a CAMFT certified therapist Supervisor and I generally have at least two interns who are in the process of obtaining licensure working in my practice. I interview all potential applicants and only select the very best of the best to come in and represent our team.

I have over nine years of experience working in residential treatment and nearly five of that working in a level 14 residential facility with some of the most difficult behaviors in the state of California. I also have over 8 years of experience providing therapy services to children in schools and families in their homes, and four years of experience working with children in the foster care system.

I also have extensive training in both adult and child/adolescent grief counseling. I received certification in both in 2013. I also attended the Summer Institute training at the Dougy Center in Portland. With this training, I created a children’s bereavement program with Sutter North Medical foundation where I provided free grief counseling to over 300 children and family members over a three-year period.

When I’m not providing therapy services in my private practice, I work with the students and staff at Marysville Joint Unified School District providing therapy to some of the more difficult cases, working with families, consulting with principals, teachers, school psychologists and providing trainings to district employees on handling crisis situations and aggressive behaviors. My extensive knowledge of the education system provides me an advantage when working with families who have a child in Special Education. I also work with the students and staff at Wheatland High School in a consultation capacity while my interns provide the mental health services to the students.

In 2015 I was invited to teach at Yuba College, another thing that I love to do. I gladly accepted and periodically I teach Psychology courses as an adjunct professor.

As a student in college, I attended Yuba College before transferring to Chico State. While at Yuba College, I was selected for two Outstanding Student of the Year awards. While at Chico State, I participated in two honors programs and was inducted into three honor societies including Phi Kappa Phi, and graduated at the top of my class. I have completed all of my course work for my doctoral degree and am currently writing my dissertation on the effectiveness of psychoeducation in therapy.

Services for Your Marriage

Have you experienced a betrayal in your marriage and don’t know what to do?
Has the conflict and negativity taken hold and your not sure how to get out of it?
Maybe the passion has slowly died out over the years and you find yourself asking if you should stay?

If you are reading this then you likely have some fear that your marriage is at risk. Whether one of you has had an affair or the passion has just run cold or the conflict just seems to be getting worse, I believe I can help. Utilizing the most advanced treatment approach available, I will thoroughly assess your relationship before the first session. I do this by having you and your spouse complete a thorough assessment online through the Gottman Institute. They have been studying couples for over 40 years and have, hands down, the most information on what makes marriages strong as well as what makes them fail. There is a $29 one time fee for this service that is paid directly to them and it takes approximately 2 hours to complete, but what we receive from that is a complete analysis of the strengths of your marriage that we can build on as well as the areas of concern that need the most attention during our earliest sessions in order to get you back on the track of rebuilding your marriage. The way this works is that once you have scheduled your first appointment, you will send me both you and your spouse’s email address and I will send you an invitation to the website as well as instructions and a time that the assessments need to be complete. When you arrive to your first session, I will already have a very clear picture of the problems you are faced with as well as some tools that you will go home with that will assist you in getting things back on track. I would also like for you to visit 5lovelanguages.com and take the short survey on what each of your love languages are. When finished, you will be emailed the results and I would like for you to forward those results to me as well just prior to our session. What this tool will do is provide us with information on the things that your spouse can do for you to fill your love tank and you theirs.

Services for Children

Are you tired of arguing and fighting with your child?
Does it seem like the louder you talk the less you are heard?
Do you worry that your child may not be as successful as you would like?

If any of these questions pertain to you, then you are not alone. I have helped hundreds of parents with children like yours.  Watching your child struggle is among the worst things we as parents can suffer and often leaves us feeling helpless and hopeless. The decision to seek help can feel overwhelming. The good news is that you’re not! I would be more than happy to walk with you on this journey and help you come together as a family.

I have helped many children and families in the Yuba/Sutter area lead happier, more productive lives and have helped parents and children repair damaged relationships to more effectively communicate their needs and come to appreciate each other.

I specialize in helping moms with strong willed children and I have dedicated my life to helping turn these strong wills to the child’s advantage so they can reach their full potential. I often teach on the subjects of improving self-esteem in children and the top ten mistakes parents make that lead to more chaos in the home. Utilizing the latest evidenced based practices, I have acted as a consultant to many Yuba/Sutter foster parents, teachers and youth workers, and have had wonderful life-changing success with some of the most strong-willed children in our area. If you or someone you know is struggling with their child, . I would be happy to walk with you through your struggle.

My goal in working with your child is to help them become as successful as possible in all areas of their life. After 22 years of experience working with children in several different settings, I believe the most efficient way to accomplish this is to not remain in the traditional counseling scenario where the child goes to a therapy office for 45 minutes per week. With more than 10 years of experience providing services to parents as well as their children. There are several reasons for this, but the most important of these is that I have found this to be the most effective, time saving way to reach the goals you have for your family.
